In 1888, a man with a farm and a woman with a
vision came together to make a difference. Judge
Edwin S. Jones donated 80 acres on Cedar Lake,
just a few miles south of downtown Minneapolis,
and Jane T. Harrison gave $30,000. Instantly, a
new haven offering care for older adults was
created – Jones-Harrison.
In the early days, residents spent their time
tending chickens, milking cows and harvesting
popcorn. Times have certainly changed, but our
tradition of care remains unwavering.
Our mission and statement of purpose arise from
this tradition. |
