Residents of Jones-Harrison’s long term care kicked off St. Patrick’s Day celebrations with meals and shamrock shakes from from that old Irish saint, McDonald’s.
We had a sweet Valentine’s Day at Jones-Harrison. Thanks to all the families who supported our valentine’s day fundraiser and helped fill our “Hall of Love” with special messages to family and friends.
Jones-Harrison wishes to express its gratefulness to the family of Irene Levin. Irene spent the last year of her life as a resident of Jones-Harrison. Upon her passing, her family, daughter Judy Cook and son Dr. David Levin, wanted to thank Jones-Harrison for Irene’s excellent care by creating a scholarship in her name. Irene had a great fondness for music and enjoyed the many opportunities to enjoy the musical offerings provided by Jones-Harrison. To honor that love, the Irene Levin Scholarship was presented to therapeutic recreationist Stephanie Besaw to pursue certification in neurologic music therapy, thereby enhancing the lives of those she cares for in long-term care. The presentation was made to Stephanie by Judy Cook and her son Andy at the conclusion of the Jones-Harrison Residence/Foundation board meeting.
Jones-Harrison had their own peaceful transfer of power as we transitioned Chairs of our Residence Board. We appreciate all the hard work, vision and effort Mary Thorpe-Mease put into her term as Chair, and CEO Lowell Berggren thanked with her with a proclamation and gift on behalf of the entire Board. History was also made as Jones-Harrison elected its first male Chairperson, John Oakes. We wish him well as he takes the reign of this nearly 130 year old venerable residence.
What better way to beat the January-Winter doldrums then by hosting a Luau! Jones-Harrison residents gathered for pina coladas and daiquiris and our good friend Lori Dokken provided Island music to keep us swingin’ and swayin’. With our leis on, you could almost feel the island breezes – Aloha!
Many thanks to the residents of Jones-Harrison for coming together to celebrate all with a January birthday. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the cupcakes and entertainment provided by Mary France.
